NEW YORK, (Reuters) – Electronic stock trading company Archipelago Holdings Inc. said on Tuesday it filed documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to create a new exchange traded fund (ETF).

sponsored by Ziegler Capital Management, a subsidiary of investment banking company Ziegler, is expected to launch in early 2006 on Archipelago’s ArcaEx platform.

It will be benchmarked to ArcaEx’s Tech 100 Index, an index of technology stocks such as Intel Corp. and Yahoo Inc..

The index was formerly called the PSE Tech 100 Index and is owned and operated by Archipelago’s subsidiary the Pacific Exchange. Chicago-based Archipelago recently closed its acquisition of PCX Holdings Inc., the parent of the Pacific Exchange, the fifth-largest U.S. equity options exchange.
